Sports Performance

Are you an avid competitor?

Have you lost your edge?

Do you wish you could hit a grand slam, get a hole in one, or break the mile-run record?

Regardless of your chosen sport, you can increase your abilities with the power of hypnosis.

Any type of sport requires a combination of physical and mental abilities. Obviously, you’re aware of the physical ability required to perform. You may be practicing for hours every single day.

The phrase “practice makes perfect” rings through your mind. And for good reason. The repetition of physical motion helps your muscles retain those motions. It becomes easier and easier with every practice.

The second part of a sport is the mental ability. It’s not a matter of intelligence, but rather of how well you can control your mind and thoughts.

Have you ever heard of the runner’s high or playing in the zone? Those sayings describe the feeling a person has when they are completely focused on the game. Their mind and body are working as one, and they’re succeeding.

Do you want to beat your competition?

If you’re ready to bring your competitive edge to every game call us at 888-890-2110. We’re here to help you.

A competitive edge starts within your mind. You get on the golf course, and the thoughts start rambling: Where’s my swing? What’s wrong with me? I used to play better. Look at Jack play;  I’ll never beat him.

These are limiting beliefs.  They stop you from believing in yourself.  They prevent you from getting what you want.

How will your body ever hit that shot, if your mind knows you’ll miss?

Hypnosis is a powerful tool for eliminating those negative thoughts and beliefs. It allows you to address your subconscious, which is home to your habits, thoughts and beliefs. It’s like a by-pass button past the negativity of your conscious mind.

Have you seen people at their sports performance peak? They’re in complete concentration and make each movement and success look like a piece of cake. These fierce competitors have gained two important skills: eliminating negative beliefs and practicing successful visualization.

Just as your body remembers those unlimited hours of practice, your mind can learn by practicing, too. Sit back and visualize how you’ll feel on the golf course, tennis court, baseball diamond, ballet stage or soccer field?

Think of your performance with as much detail as possible. What do you see, hear, feel and touch? Can you see the ball land in the hole? Do you feel a rush when score a goal or make the perfect pirouette?

You can increase your ability to visualize by using hypnosis. In a super relaxed state, you’ll feel exactly as if you were actually performing your sport. You’ll feel the course grass, hear the applause, feel the breeze on your face, see the track under your feet and watch your success.

Just imagine – you can be in the zone anytime you want.

Train your mind, and edge out your competition. Call us at 888-890-2110, or fill out our CONTACT FORM, to discuss how hypnosis can improve your sports performance. We’re waiting to help you.

Learning New Skills, Career Training

Learning New Skills, Career TrainingIn today’s changing economic times, many people are searching for new careers or trying to update their skills. By making yourself more in demand, you’ll find a new career or perhaps even a better job than you currently have.

Some people discover that tackling new skills can be a hardship, between life stresses and concentration problems. The good news is hypnosis can help you gain focus, concentration and recall.

How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is considered an alternative health therapy, where a person is guided into a relaxed state. During this state, a person can address their subconscious, which houses your beliefs, thoughts and habits. Hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of learning issues, such as increasing focus, confidence and memory recall.

Do you want a better future?

If you’re going back to school to earn a certificate or degree, are you noticing your mind isn’t as sharp as it used to be? Are you having trouble retaining new information? Do you find it hard to settle down and study? Are you doing well in your class only to score horribly on the tests?

These are typical problems that people face when trying to learn new things. While the issues may be troublesome, you can overcome them and reach your goal.

Do You Want To Learn More?

If you’re ready to take control of your future, call us at 888-890-2110. We’re here to help you.

Try to narrow down the areas in your life causing you the most problems.

Make a list of areas you need to address. Do you want to increase your learning time, memory recall, confidence level, and concentration abilities?

Your hypnotherapist will help you reach your goals. Be honest and let him know what you’re currently struggling with. Share your expectations and goals.

After an initial consultation, your therapist will decide on the best method to help you. It could be a combination of therapy techniques, such as hypnosis and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming).

Your hypnotherapist will make you feel comfortable. He’ll guide you to a super relaxed state, also known as a trance. In trance, he can make suggestions directly to your subconscious, which holds your habits, thoughts and beliefs.

If you’re struggling with learning difficulties, try hypnosis — safe and effective alternative approach.

In a few short sessions, you’ll gain the ability to concentrate, focus, and learn quicker and easier than you ever thought was possible.

Learning difficulties don’t have to stop you.

The easiest way to learn is a phone call away. Call us at 888-890-2110, or fill out our CONTACT FORM to discuss how you can use the power of hypnosis to reach your dreams. We’re waiting to help you.

Awaken the Great Golfer Inside You with Hypnosis

As an experienced golfer, you have known the thrill and satisfaction that comes from hitting a solid shot. What do you remember about that perfect shot? Or that great putt? The smell of the fresh cut grass in the air, the feel of the club in your hands, taking your practice swings and finding that special feeling before stepping up to the ball, and the sound and the feel of the club when you hit the “sweet spot”. All that information is in you just waiting to be tapped again.

But you also know when you are off your game and know the pain and frustration of a really bad shot. The ones that end up in the woods or in the water traps. Through those bad shots, you know you weren’t in the same place mentally or physically.

You’ve hired golf coaches to correct your swing mechanics and invested a lot of time and money in the newest clubs and gadgets to improve your game.

You have studied the game thoroughly and racked up many practice hours with some improvement, but you can’t seem to perform on consistent basis.

What do the top golfers know that you don’t? How do they consistently meet their scoring goals?iStock 000005871187XSmall4 200x300 Awaken the Great Golfer Inside You with Hypnosis

If you watch golf’s elite players, you can see a difference. You can see it when a great golfer like Tiger Woods prepares to take a shot. There is definite a change in the face and in the body that tells you they are shutting out the world and sizing up the situation. They are in the Zone when they step up to take the shot, you can see confidence in their eyes and their swing.

Here’s the secret: your score isn’t determined by those newest clubs, gadgets or techniques. It’s how you think during the 1 ½ seconds it takes to automatically swing the club that determines your game.

Are you shocked? Do you agree with that statement?

Golf is a mind-body game. You have to train your subconscious mind and your body to work together automatically, without interference from conscious thoughts sabotaging your shots.

Through golf performance hypnosis you will learn how to return to the zone on command, achieve total focus, build self-confidence, thrive under pressure, rid yourself of the yips, remember your best shots, relax and swing with tempo, and play in the moment one shot at a time. Hypnosis can help you play like the champion you are.

Relief for Show Nerves

Tim Horn, Certified Hypnotist

We all deal with issues in our lives that can be difficult to address. In this article, I address the specific issue of performance anxiety. Show nerves are no different from what happens before a test or when you go to an important meeting. This is just one example of how hypnosis can be utilized to improve the quality of your life. If you have any questions about whether hypnosis can help you, e-mail info@advancedhypnosisofamerica.com

You have worked a month for this moment. Being from Northern Virginia, you have had access to excellent instructors. You spent a few hundred dollars the past few months to have your horse’s muscles and alignment inspected by an equestrian chiropractor. That abscess the vet found has fully healed and your farrier has given him perfect feet. You spent two hours the previous night thoroughly cleaning and oiling your tack. Having your horse’s main braided was never your strength so you had someone do it for you.

During the warm-up, your instructor was happy with your preparation and you are off to the ring. Then it happens, the bell rings and your supple hands become lobster claws. That calm confidence you had when warming up disappears and the timing of your aids are a split second off. Your horse feels your tenseness and reacts while you overcorrect. Your fifteen meter circles become twenty meters and you feel like you are losing the contact with the horse. As you leave the ring, the judge kills you with the dreaded, “You have a beautiful horse there.” You have just experienced a severe case of show nerves. It may even have happened as you entered the show grounds, but it often happens to you.

Nerves are a natural occurrence for anyone involved in sports. With the intricacies of riding however, the effect of this anxiety can be magnified. You are partnering with a half-ton athlete that needs your guidance. Good preparation can certainly off-set an attack of show nerves, but they can still creep up on you. A recent thread on the Chronicle Forum suggested using drugs to combat the problem. 12 10 2009 072516pm5 300x242 Relief for Show Nerves

Drugs certainly can offer temporary relief from show nerves. Prescribed by a physician who is familiar with your entire medical history, the drugs can work without diminishment to your riding skills. However, the greater long-term benefit could be achieved through the use of hypnosis.

Hypnosis is not some mystical state. Most people have been hypnotized without knowing it. How many times have you driven home and all of the sudden realized you could not remember most of the trip? Your mind has bypassed the critical factor not unlike when your hypnotist guides you into the trance state. People in a trance find it relaxing and enjoyable.

On the unconscious level, we breathe, our hearts beat, we sweat, and thousands of other genetically triggered events occur. We have the conscious level which includes all the thought process that allows us to survive during the day. You organize your day, deal with everyday difficulties and make everyday decisions with your conscious rational mind. Rationally you realize you have fully prepared for your ride, but it is not the rational mind that causes your nerves.

Below the surface is the subconscious mind which breaks through when emotions like nerves are involved. Think of the subconscious mind as the programming for your rational mind. Previous events have caused you to feel the anxiety that created your show nerves. Hypnosis can be used to bypass the critical factor of the conscious mind helping you to deal with the cause.

An initial hypnotic session can be used to increase a rider’s focus during lessons and training. When a rider better incorporates their lessons into their training, they condition the horse and themselves to succeed in the show ring. Practice does not make perfect; practice makes permanent. This initial session can also include suggestions for working better and being more sensitive to your horse’s actions to improve the connection between horse and rider. Finally a second session a few days before the show can help the rider visualize success in the ring on that specific day.

The mind is an incredible thing; the body cannot tell the difference between physically completing a ride and imagining it. With perfected practice and the use of hypnosis, show nerves can be greatly, if not totally, relieved. Eventually a CD with the appropriate suggestions can replace private sessions. With these steps, you may not make it to the Olympics, but you will maximize your enjoyment of this wonderful activity.

Weight Loss and Hypnosis

Weight Loss and Hypnosis
Quick review of a weight loss case study: Female, 45 years old. Goal: lose 30 pounds in 6 months with hypnosis.

Client S. came in to discuss an acceptable plan for her weight loss program. Her primary complaint was that her outfits are no longer fitting as nicely as they used to. She also feared that she had less control over her eating patterns and frequently resorted to comfort eating. Her goal was to lose 30 pounds in the shortest, possible time and to keep it off for the rest of her life.

After we assessed her eating patterns, emotional comfort eating, eating-out habits and her exercise schedule, we negotiated a plan that would assist her in making better choices throughout the day.
The first item on our agenda was a relaxation and breathing technique. I pointed out that meditation and relaxation techniques are wonderful tools to adopt in her daily regimen. These tools assist in relieving symptoms of a wide variety of conditions as well as lowering anxiety levels. I made her aware that most people dealing with food issues such as comfort eating or overeating would benefit greatly from relaxation techniques.

A simple technique that I introduced to her was inhale, two, three, four, hold, two, three, four and exhale, two, three, four, rest, two, three, four. This little tool became her daily relaxation exercise. An immediate meditation state was induced whenever she wanted to calm down and get centered.
At our next session I introduced S. to a deepening technique that allowed her to enter an altered state of consciousness – a state of hypnosis. S. gently entered the state in which we could begin to reframe some of her emotional attachments to food. I decided that guided imagery would benefit her the most and guided her into her special place, her meadow. After a few sessions she was very adept in creating the safe place and entering a deep calm.

S. needed to reduce the anxiety level that surrounded her comfort eating. Her inner space became her new safety net. Each and every time, a feeling of stress arose she resorted to breathing deeply rather than comfort food. Her inner space became her safe and nurturing source in which she learned to explore new directions for her life.

This is the time that the sessions for weight loss became center stage. S. began to create her new body image in conjunction with weight loss. Through her mind’s eye, I had her visualize losing five pounds at a time. While S. was slimming down her emotional state became more grounded, thus the body image was repaired. S. learned to feel comfortable with her new body and also the weight loss.
During each session, we looked at the food intake, exercise plan and relaxation techniques that she practice at home daily. Every five pounds S. rewarded herself with a new small gift or a massage. The incentives gave her additional merit to enjoy the slimming down process. Connecting body and mind holistically helped her achieve the end-result image of weight loss.

To identify with a concise, clear picture of the new and slimmer self, assisted S. to reach her goal. Part of the weight loss projections allow for an indirect motivational behavior that assist in losing weight with ease. In this case study S. sculpted her body into an image that was acceptable to her.
During our work together S. achieved her goal of loosing thirty-five pounds over a period of five months. Her new lifestyle became a way of life.

Clients Testimonials

"Just wanted to let you know I had an excellent meeting with Daniel on May 6th. He spent almost three hours with me...and I haven't smoked since. It was a very interesting evening.  It's going very well and seems to be "easier" than I anticipated to stay away from the cigarettes."

-Phil

“I feel wonderful. Not one craving for a cigarette. I even went to a friend’s house last night and had a couple beers and was around 4 people that were smoking and still no craving. This is truly amazing. Everyone is so impressed with me and figure if I can quit so can they.”

- Vera M.

“I went to see Matt and he helped me tremendously. I am so glad I haven't pulled my eyelashes at all since my first visit. It took 4 or 5 sessions and when I went last week he said that I was done. I was shocked that it was that easy. I just wanted to thank you for sending me to him. I highly recommend him to future patients and if you ever need to use me as a reference for him I would be happy to do so. Thanks again for all your help.”

- Jessica

"I want to thank you so very much for sending me to Marianne. The only experience I had ever had with hypnosis was at county fairs and I was afraid this would be similar.  She took me to exactly where I thought I wanted to go and I am so much more at peace now.  I know now without a doubt that what I want to happen will happen in its due time.  Again I want to thank you so very much. You will be hearing from me again."

- Susan
